現実に。。。アメリカ合衆国で。

アメリカ合衆国　大統領に、　オバマ氏が決定した　とのニュース。

何と表現したらよいのか、　言葉にならないが、
血液が体の中で流れるのを　感じるような　気持ちになった。

現実に、　白人以外の　大統領が　誕生となった。
あのアメリカ合衆国で。

確かに存在する、差別。
差別をしないようにするという、差別を意識した、ルールや感情や、価値観。

一方で、　“人”　個人の誇りを大切にし、
個人の成し遂げる業績を　きちんと評価し、讃え、尊重する　価値観。

様々な人種、宗教、価値観を持つ人々が集まる大国。

誕生の裏で様々なことがあっただろうが、
現実として、　誕生することとなった。

どんな社会となっていくのだろうか。
世界に　どんな風が吹いていくのだろうか。
どんな価値観が　息づいていくのだろうか。

若かりし頃、
白人、日系アメリカ人、中国系アメリカ人、アフリカ系アメリカ人、
ユダヤ系アメリカ人、南アフリカ人、などなど
様々なバックグラウンドを持った友人と
過ごした日々を　思い出しながら、
彼、彼女たちの姿を思い出しながら、
自分の感じた感情を思い出しながら、
言葉にならない　気持ち　を　今日、　味わっている。

とにもかくにも、

現実として、　白人以外の大統領が　誕生する。

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification” — one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

私には夢がある。いつか、ジョージアの赤土の丘に元奴隷の息子たちと元奴隷所有者の息子たちが一緒に座り、友愛のテーブルを囲む日が来るという夢が。

私には夢がある。差別主義者がはびこるアラバマ、知事は口を開けば州権優位、実施拒否で忙しい、そんなアラバマにもいつかきっと、幼い黒人の少年少女が幼い白人の少年少女と手と手を取り合って兄弟のように仲睦まじく暮らしていける日が来るという夢が。

I have a dream today!

私には夢がある。「谷はすべて身を起こし、山と丘は身を低くせよ。険しい道は平らに、狭い道は広い谷となれ。主の栄光がこうして現れるのを、肉なる者は共に見る」 (イザヤ書40:4-5：丘と山が逆)
